On an industrial stretch of Hwy 3 (a little east of where it meets the toll road) there is an office park that houses a couple of excellent wineries (Madera 5/Cava Aragón, D'Poncelis). About a year ago we visited their tasting rooms and learned that the collapse of the toll road had radically reduced the number of people coming to try their wines. At the time things appeared bleak, but everybody we talked to was very optimistic. They told us that once the toll road was reopened and a planned renovation of the business park was complete they would once again be able attract visitors.
The toll road is now open and the renovation of the business park includes Chef Ryan Steyn's newest restaurant, El Clavo Cocina de Baja.
I am looking forward to checking it out.
