Trip Report: Gourmet Globetrotter

This is a very comprehensive trip report about the author's three day trip to the Valle and its neighboring attractions.  His report includes a mention of their stop at the little zoo located in El Porvenir which might be the zoo's first mention in any article I have read about the Valle (and I've read quite a few).

He also mentions this blog which in my opinion gives his piece a lot of credibility.

New Website: Lechuza Winery

Lechuza is one of my favorite wineries in the Valle (Thomas Keller must think so too, because their wines are served at The French Laundry).  They recently launched a beautiful new website.  You may want to bookmark it as tastings at Lechuza are by appointment only.  You can also sign up for their newsletter on the site which will keep you informed about upcoming events and releases.

La Casona Bistro & Cava

Other than what's on their Facebook page I do not have any additional info about La Casona. (I really need to get down to Valle soon and check out a bunch of places.)

Deckman's Reopens

After taking a break for the holidays, Deckman's has reopened.

With good weather in the forecast for next weekend we might need to head to the Valle.  It's been a couple of months since we've had a meal at Deckman's which is one of life's great pleasures.

Trip Report: Gypsy Sols

Here's an excellent trip report from back in May:

Karisma Hotels & Resorts @ El Cielo

Travel Agent Central posted the following information about Karisma Hotels  & Resorts's Valle expansion plans.
Karisma Hotels & Resorts is also expanding into new regions. Namely, Baja California’s increasingly popular wine country. This year brings an all-out push for El Cielo Vineyard, Villas and Spa by Karismain the Valle de Guadalupe.
It’s about an hour south from San Diego. We are building 30 two-bedroom villas there. You open the door of the balcony and you’re just in front of the vineyards of El Cielo, which means ‘heaven,’” Daniel Scheiman, Karisma’s senior business development manager for North America, tells us.
He describes the accommodations at El Cielo as “luxury, standalone villas with their own pool, Jacuzzi, living room, dining room and fireplace.”

The luxury villas are not all inclusive, but groceries are available at local markets, as well as wineries.

Karisma is positioning itself as a market leader with the winery concept.
“We really are the first ones to do something like this. Normally, when you go to Napa or Sonoma, you go to a winery, but you aren’t able to stay there.

We already have two villas in place at El Cielo. By the spring of 2018, we will have 28 more of them. We will also add an addition 83 hectares to the 38 we have planted now. The winery produces 15 different labels of wine with 14 different grapes. We’ve already earned awards at the Belgium World’s Fair of Wine. El Cielo is one of the best wineries in all of Mexico and we wanted to give our clients the experience of staying there,” said Scheiman.

The villas, he added, are especially well-suited for the destination wedding and family group vacation market.

“By 2019, we’re going to be building a standalone hotel over there,” he said.
