5 Things We Learned This Weekend

We're back.

Yet another memorable trip to Valle de Guadalupe.  Our group of six drank some wine, ate some food, and met some fascinating people.  As always we returned with a greater appreciation of the Valle.

5 things we learned on this trip:

1) The roasted pork at Troika is delicious.  It is served with the ingredients to make tacos but they're not really necessary.  The pork is tasty on its own.

2) Having dinner under the pines at El Pinar de Tres Mujeres on a warm spring evening is one of life's great pleasures.  The meal was made all the better because Ismene, the chef, had time to share her story.

3)  I have been threatened with bodily harm if I divulged this bit of info, but I think the secret is out.  Quinta Maria is a great place to stay.  Friendly hosts, spectacular setting, and reasonable prices.  This is a Valle jewel.

4)  Adrian Garcia of Vinicola Retorno is passionate about making wine.  We love visiting wineries and when we get to talk with to people whose enthusiasm for wine is palpable it makes for a great conversation.

 5) The bar at Cuatro Cuatros has a world class view (and that might be an understatement).  In the past only guests of the resort were allowed to take it in, but now everyone is invited to partake.
